Welcome to Ovation Farm, the new home of Susan ("Susie") Wiedman and Encore Sporthorse.
The 50 acre farm is an easy drive from both the Triangle and Southern Pines. Our specialty is expert dressage training in a fun and positive environment. All levels of rider are welcome - from beginner to FEI.
Susie Wiedman and Encore Sporthorse have been providing quality dressage training for both the horse and rider for over fifteen years. In addition to being licensed as a USEF “r” judge, Susie is a USDF gold medalist with thirty years of equestrian experience in dressage and other equestrian disciplines.
Ovation Farm was designed for training and instruction. There are 42 large and airy stalls, a 150' x 290' fenced outdoor arena with lights, 75' x 200' covered arena, and 2 round pens. Horses enjoy ample individual or small group turnout as well as customized feeding plans.
Trainer and owner Susie Wiedman and the Ovation Farm barn managers reside on the property.
It's a Girl - Sir Donnerhall x Rubenstein Filly
Grace's mare Rubi decided to surprise us all yesterday, 6/11/09, and deliver her filly just before noon, while Susie, Kathryn, and Sally were in Southern Pines trail riding. James, Blades, Nancy, and Pablo were there at the farm to witness the event, which was as far as I know, a first for all of them. The little bay filly was delivered quickly and without complications. No name has been picked yet, but there seems to be an agreement about beginning the name with Stillwater. This is, after all, Grace's last foal. As a side note, Grace has been recently named to USEF Leading Dressage Breeders list for 2009 and is currently tied for #53, for Rubi's 2003 foal Dressed to Thrill by De Niro, who has been very successful at 2nd level this year in TN and FL. We can't wait to see what the rest of Grace's foals will do in the show ring!
In just a few days, the NC Caravan for the Cure team will be heading to Maryland for the PVDA Ride for Life dressage show. The weekend will offer a variety of activities from the dressage show itself, to the Jill Hassler-Scoop Memorial Dancing Horse Challenge judged by Linda Zang, to the "Parisian Masquerade" themed Gala, as well as excellent shopping and surrounding attractions. It should be a fun-filled weekend for the team! Our own Grace Dalrymple, a founding member of the NC Caravan for the Cure, will be memorialized during the Dancing Horse Challenge at this year's event.
The NC Caravan for the Cure benefit at Ovation Farm on May 2nd was a success!! Approximately $7K was raised at the auction and fix-a-test schooling show. Many thanks to Tanya Horning for having the vision to found this group and the many volunteers and participants who have helped the NC Caravan for the Cure team raise over $14K. All monies will be donated to the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Center. There is still time to donate to this worthy cause. We wish the NC Caravan for the Cure team much success at the PVDA Ride for Life benefit horse show June 27-28 in Maryland! Please see our Ride for Life page for more details on our fundraising efforts!
Congrats to Bernie Dembosky for her mention and picture with Flash Tate in the May issue of the NCDCTA newsletter! Bernie and Flash were first in a large Dressage Seat Equitation class at the March Magic Dressage show. Flash is for sale - check out the sales page!
Grace Dalrymple -
1967-2008
Our dear friend and fellow equestrian Grace Dalrymple lost her courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, December 31, 2008. She leaves behind a legacy of top quality horses, both imported and of her own breeding program at home in North Carolina, Still Waters Farm, several of which are for sale through Encore Sporthorse. She will be greatly missed by Team Encore and her special partner, Minerva. We love you Grace!
UPDATE: Grace has been named to the USEF Leading Dressage Breeders list for 2009! She is currently ranked #53(tied) for Rubi's 2003 filly, Dressed to Thrill
Encore Sporthorse has a wide range of FANTASTIC horses for sale. There are foals to adults, mares and geldings. FEI Dressage prospects to trail horses. Make sure to check out the Sales Page.
